Programs for children
MODERN BALLET
The course is intended for children ages 10 to 15.
Modern ballet gives opportunity for unlimited exploration of body movement and combination of dance moves within parts of choreography. Even though the style is less strict than in classical ballet, there are rules within different techniques regarding the way moves are performed.
The goal of this program is to introduce the basis of modern dance to students. A special attention is paid to “floor work” technique. Accurate stance and posture, awakening awareness of body parts in movement and the movement in space are the bases in learning this style.
Apart from muscle strength exercises and enhancing elasticity and fluidity of movement, the main focus is on creativity, improvisation, expressing emotions through dance and exploration within choreography tasks.
- 3 x per week
JAZZ BALLET
The course is intended for children between ages 6 and 9.
It is based on elements of classical ballet technique and modern ballet, but it’s characterized by a greater freedom of movement. It is linked to energetic and dynamic dance style and it’s performed to modern and popular music.
Through warm-up exercises, muscle strength exercises and elasticity exercises, the body is preparing for mastering jazz ballet technique and parts of choreography.
As in classical ballet, in jazz ballet classes children strengthen the musculature, perfect the coordination, sense of rhythm, and musicality, while a special attention is being paid to highlighting individual styles, creativity and expression.
- 3 x per week
HIP HOP
The course is held in two groups, according to the age and the complexity of the program – one group is intended for children ages 7 to 10 and the other for ages 16 and older, including the adults.
This is a dynamic and entertaining program, intended for everyone who want to enter the world of hip hop without previous knowledge or experience. During the course, students will learn basic steps as well as the technique and styles characteristic for this dance.
We’ll introduce you to principal moves such as “groove”, “bounce” and “isolation” which are the basis of hip hop. The focus is on understanding the rhythm in hip-hop music and dance, as well as synchronizing the moves with the music.
Hip hop is a challenging, but an exceptionally satisfying dance style which enables exploration of your personality and creativity through movement. This course will be an excellent opportunity to enter the world of hip hop while developing your skills at the same time.

CLASSICAL BALLET FOR CHILDREN
Classical ballet classes are held for three age groups:
• Younger group (ages 4 to 6)
• Middle group (ages 7 to 9)
• Older group (ages 10 to 13)
Groups also differ according to the language the classes are held in: Serbian, English, French and Russian. These choices are available to students, so apart from the benefits of practicing ballet, a child can also learn foreign languages which is something La Classe Dance Studio is unique for.
Through floor exercises, the body is getting ready and becoming stronger for mastering the bases of classical ballet – barre exercises or “in the middle” of the ballet studio.
Ballet exercises strengthen the musculature, boost the correct posture, awake the coordination, and perfect the elegance of movement. Musicality and sense of rhythm are crucial segments of learning, and creativity and personal expression are nurtured with special attention. Through ballet, children also learn important life lessons about discipline, perseverance, dedication and self-confidence.
*** Dance and ballet aren’t just physical activities for the child. Through dance, we express and get to know ourselves and we understand others. Dance is a state of body and mind. ***
The classes are held by experienced dancers and soloists of The National Theater Ballet.
